How Balanced Buchanan Orthotics Works
Founded just before the Second World War, Buchanan Orthotics is a family-owned business that operates from our Headquarters in Glasgow. We manufacture modular, bespoke and specialist footwear, insoles, plastics, and fabric supports.
As a company, we provide insoles to a number of English premier league teams, the UK Military, and devices to the NHS. We also have Scottish Premier League football players regularly attending our clinics to aid their return from injury and stay injury-free.
During the assessment, the orthotist will analyse your gait, noting any gait deviations. A physical examination is always undertaken where muscle strengths, range of motions and joint integrity are checked.
Using cutting edge technology such as pressure analysis, 3d Scanning and printing, the Buchanan Orthotic clinic can provide the most up to date clinical advice and devices.
Our Orthotists have extensive experience using materials such as Carbon Fibre, Silicone and 3d printing. This ability to select the most appropriate material and manufacturing technique, utilising traditional or cutting edge technology, allows us to provide options few other clinics can.
The Orthotist will discuss your treatment options with you at the end of your consultation. If your clinician doesn’t feel Orthotics is the most appropriate service. In that case, they will give you information on other treatment avenues to pursue.

Orthotics
Orthotics is the general term for the branch of medicine, which deals with the design and the use of artificial devices such as splints, braces and insoles. Specifically, orthotics are braces or footwear designed to help patients with certain medical conditions to better manage their ability to perform day-to-day tasks.Assessment
