Management of your injury will involve:
Initial Injury assessment and appropriate recommendation for imaging if indicated (we have well established referral pathways in place for imaging techniques such as ultrasound and MRI scanning).
Optimal management of injured tissue in the early stages of injury with early exposure to appropriate load as clinically indicated.
Assessment of initial physiological markers – these include range of motion, swelling, palpation assessment of affected area, stability and strength assessments, specific joint integrity testing. As you progress through the phases of rehabilitation you will be assessed on more advanced physiological markers such as advanced power and strength assessment techniques, agility tests and plyometric markers/performance.
Once appropriate results have been established within the gym setting you will be progressed to onfield football specific rehabilitation/conditioning techniques. This will involve exposure to a progressive onfield rehabilitation programme incorporating a gradual increase in fitness and conditioning work, ball work and football specific technical drills. These will increase in intensity and volume as each session progresses and there will be onfield fitness testing as part of the return to play criteria testing protocol.
Psychological return to play screening questionnaire to assess/evaluate readiness to return to competitive football.
The purpose of the football specific rehabilitation pathway is to offer an academy style rehabilitation process to provide you with support and guidance at every important step of the recovery/rehabilitation pathway. Our aim is to reduce the risk of re-injury and ensure you return to play stronger and fitter than ever.
