Our nutritional therapist creates individual nutrition programmes that could help you have more energy, a more balanced mood, a healthier weight and fewer negative health symptoms.
What’s the process?
The initial consultation lasts 90 minutes. The first part of this session is information gathering so that we can get a detailed picture of your health. The aim is to find out what will be the best way to proceed for you. We then agree on a dietary programme for the following month. We would like you to see some positive changes in this month, but it is very important that you feel the plan is achievable, motivating and fits in with your lifestyle so there is time to discuss this. You may also be recommended supplements and testing if appropriate.
Following the initial consultation you will get a written report with your plan and recipe ideas.
In approximately 4 weeks you will come back and discuss progress and make further amendments to your plan.
Subsequent follow-ups may be at 4 to 6 week intervals or longer, once progress has been established.
Please note: if your aim is to lose weight, more frequent support is recommended, such as the 30 day weight loss programme or Metabolic Balance.
In certain cases tests are advised to help determine the underlying causes of your symptoms. All tests get sent to professional labs, some of which are in the UK, and others in the States. Some examples:
- Stool analysis (bacteria, parasites,viruses, yeasts, inflammatory markers)
- Food Intolerance Test (IgG, IgE and Complements)
- Full thyroid screen (TSH, FT4, FT3, autoimmune antibodies)
- Adrenal screen (cortisol, DHEA)
- Female Hormone Panel
- SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) breath test
- Nutrient status
Metabolic Balance...eating every 5 hours, drinking just water in between meals? The portions look tiny. I often wondered 'Is that ALL I am allowed?' BUT...after a couple of days, eating every 5 hours becomes easy. In fact, 6 months on and I still try to eat every 5 hours. It's amazing how much better you feel when your body is actually hungry and ready to receive food, good food that your body is going to like and respond well too. Yes there are not many carbs in my plan, but I love not feeling sluggish and tired. I used to wonder how the small portions would ever fill me up, but they do. What does it cost?
What happens on the programme?
Phase 1 lasts 2 days and is a cleanse that prepares your body for the changes that are to come over the next weeks. It is the only generic part of the plan.
Phase 2 lasts 14 days and is often referred to as the strict phase. You will be following certain rules and eating only the foods specified on your plan. I will support you with recipe ideas and meal suggestions and coaching. You start to lose weight and notice other health benefits, such as more energy, better sleep, clearer skin.
Phase 3 lasts until you reach your desired weight. It is a more relaxed phase, in that more foods are introduced, guided by me, and you are encouraged to have a treat meal once a week!
Phase 4 is the maintenance phase when adjustments are made within the Metabolic Balance framework, so that you can maintain your weight loss.
