About me

I believe in a wholistic approach to well-being (mind, body and spirit), my work stems from my own experience and subsequent deeply held belief that we all possess the tools needed to attain the levels of balance and harmony that many spend a lifetime looking for. My journey started with Pilates and mindfulness movement, it changed my life and is fundamental to my well-being, I truly love to share this amazing modality with others. I’m a 3rd generation BASI Pilates instructor, with 21 years of experience, a good eye for alignment and articulate instruction, I am a motivated, fun, strong and sometimes strict teacher, compassionate, kind, inspiring and motivating, I have a lifelong passion and interest in people and well-being. I am confident that my background in delivering outstanding results coupled with excellent interpersonal skills will help you to get the most from your sessions.

After the tragic loss of my son; a deep and life shattering trauma which, at my lowest points, I was convinced I would never recover from. I was presented with a choice. The same choice that we are each given every day. To get worse, or to get better. My path then expanded into studying psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT®). Through a combination of therapies, both mental/emotional and physical, I have got to where I am today and now that I know first-hand the amazing results these methods can have, I am making it my personal mission to share them with as many people as I can. Life can be tough so anything I can do to ease someone’s path brings meaning to my life.

My journey, and my experiences have truly gifted me with a wide breadth of knowledge on a range of approaches to improving quality of life. My main focus is helping people with stress and anxiety & improving confidence and self-esteem and general life skills for improved well-being, I offer these tools as a proactive treatment, equipping people with skills before they are urgently needed, which is relevant in these times.

Expertise

My initial training was in Bermuda and the US, predominantly in New York Style Pilates. This was then updated with Body Arts & Science International (BASI) comprehensive certification. As a long time Ashtanga yoga and BASI instructor, I have extensive training in understanding the needs of my clients and helping to identify solutions to optimise their fitness environment, agility and comfort.

After studying BSc Hons Psychology, I began my training in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. While there are numerous methodologies used in Hypnotherapy, all of the work done in our sessions is evidence based, established, peer-reviewed and BPS approved. To compliment these modalities, I have undergone mindfulness teacher training with The Mindfulness Now programme also under the approval of the BPS.

Experience

I have been teaching Pilates since 2000 and yoga since 2005 and have a sound understanding of anatomy, having worked with a full range of clients from rehabilitation to sports professionals over the years, from all over the world. Before immigrating to the UK, I had my own Pilates studio in South Africa with a team of amazing instructors.

Before immigrating to the UK, I spent two years living in South East Asia teaching on retreats, I have always incorporated mindfulness into what I do and I have recently been working with people to help with anxiety, stress and self-esteem through a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness techniques.

Life outside work

I love to spend time in nature, so lovely long walks. Friends and family are important to me I always carve out time for them. Life is too short not to have fun so I make sure my life always has an element of fun.

My favourite thing

Travel and adventure! I’ve lived in South East Asia, climbed Manaslu Peak and hiked across Spain to name a couple of the things I’ve loved to do. A lovely glass of wine is another favourite thing
