About me

I always knew as a teenager that I wanted to be a Physiotherapist, probably because I was often seeing a Physio for various sporting injuries associated with basketball, netball, athletics, and tennis. I always thought their knowledge and their ability to help me recover from an injury was incredible. With a growing fascination about the human body and how it works, I knew I wanted to learn more about how to optimise how we as humans function, and help people the way I’d been helped. I was so excited when I learned that Physiotherapy could be so much more than just helping people with sporting injuries, which only drove my desire to be a Physiotherapist even more. Now that I am a Physiotherapist, what I am most passionate about is empowering and assisting people of all populations to strive as close to independence as possible. It isn’t my goal to keep someone coming back for in-room treatment every week for the rest of their lives - as much as I love building rapport with everyone I treat! I feel most excited when I see a patient has worked with me to correct posture, weaknesses, and mobility, and they’re set up with a plan to prolong their optimal function, and therefore reduce the need for treatment. This feeds into why I love Clinical Pilates, because it’s such an incredible way of conditioning our bodies to optimise our physical capacity and reduce/prevent pain.

Expertise

Nikita has expertise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, active-based rehabilitation and injury prevention through Pilates and Strength and Conditioning. She treats a vast variety of clients, whether they present with acute pain, chronic pain, sporting injuries, and overuse injuries.

Experience

After graduating from her Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Australia in 2017, Nikita commenced her career in a rural private practice in The Barossa Valley. Her two years there gave her the opportunity to work with a variety of presentations and populations, including but not limited to; musculoskeletal, pre/post-operative orthopaedic, chronic pain, stroke rehabilitation, strength and conditioning for injury prevention, paediatrics, hydrotherapy, Return to Work claims, Motor Vehicle Accident claims, and more. After attempting to move to the UK in 2020 (and returning home after two short weeks due to COVID), Nikita relocated to metropolitan Adelaide and started working at another private practice, predominantly focussing on musculoskeletal, sports physiotherapy, and Clinical Pilates. As her passion for Clinical Pilates grew, she accepted a role at another private practice where she was able to introduce and direct Clinical Pilates, while still able to assess and treat her clients as a Physiotherapist. Her 2.5 years at this practice allowed her to treat similar presentations to that in her previous roles, but she also had more exposure to treating clients with BPPV/vertigo, pre/post-natal women, and patients who had experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
